Decisions!

For a long time I had already pretty much made up my mind about whether or not I want to live in Florida longer, but I've been really scared for a long time to say it definitely out loud.

Well, now that my (and Dan's) self imposed March 1st deadline has passed I guess I must now say it out loud.

I am going to stay in Florida for at least another year!

Wow, how anticlimactic was that?!

I'm very excited and also very scared. Right now I'd say 70% terrified 30% excited. We shall see. I did find out that I can extend my program again until August, so that helped me make the decision a lot, since for 2 extra months I'll be guaranteed full time hours. Then after that I'll just be poor while I wait for my status to change to full time. Plus, I plan on using this year to try and get in to the communication department here. Or find out how to do that. I've got to grow up sometime, right?

Dan is staying and Emily's coming back to live with us, so if nothing else at least I'll have two awesome roommates. The dates of our move in and where we are going to live are still to be determined, but hopefully it'll be all ironed out by the time Emily comes to visit in April!

I'm going to miss Oklahoma very much, but I'll be back for at least a week, hopefully more, to go to Peter's graduation and pack up my furniture to bring it down here.

So now that I've posted this, I guess it's official! This girl is on her way to being a grown up?
Psh, never.

Encounters with Prince Charming

A little over a week ago Melissa, Dan and I went to go dine with Prince Charming and Cinderella at the Grand Floridian. Melissa and I have been before, but it was Dan's first time to meet Prince Charming. Prince Charming was a little cheeky though. I told him that I was excited to take a picture with him and not be blushing. He took that as a challenge and talked all sweet and Princely to me just as Dan was taking the picture. Look at that smug smile on his face! What a jerk!
A few days ago, at work, I had to use a Prince Charming stick, which I'm modeling for you below, to get guests to follow me from the restaurant to the front of the park. The next day the manager gave me the Prince Charming stick and told me to go out in Fantasyland and basically recruit people to come eat at the restaurant since we had cancellations. One guest asked me if it was a paddle? I should mention that Prince Charming is not the only character stick under employ at Cinderella's Royal Table. Gus, Jaq, Susie, Perla and the Fairy Godmother are available as well. Prince Charming's just the cutest one.

Last night a little boy who was about 4 came to eat at the restaurant dressed as Prince Charming. He had the shirt and the belt and the pants, but he opted to rock some flip flops instead of black shoes. I wish I had a picture of him for you, but I think that would be creepy if I just whipped out my phone and asked for one. Also, I'd get terminated for using my phone on stage... Anyway, he is also from Oklahoma! His mom was wearing a shirt that said "Boomer Sooner" and I, like any good Sooner fan, said "Boomer!" to her and the whole little fam (mom, grandma, aunt and Prince Charming) we got to chatting while they were waiting in line to take their picture with Cinderella. Apparently little Prince Charming was sooo excited all day to meet Cinderella. As soon as he came into the lobby he was waving to her and smiling like crazy. But when he got up to her he froze and wouldn't go near her.

So the little fam from Oklahoma sat down and waited for their table (this is in the same room Cinderella takes pictures with the guests). Little Prince Charming had to wait a while for his table to be ready, which turned out to be a really good thing. I let him ring the bells that I had to ring to announce when tables are ready. Cinderella cheered for him. The smile on his face was enormous. I asked him who his favorite princess was and he blushed, swayed his little body around like kids do when they're embarrassed, and pointed to Cinderella very quickly. While they were waiting, his mom pulled out a toy set from Snow White that included little plastic figures of Snow White, the Prince and the seven dwarfs for him to play with. I told little Prince Charming that maybe Cinderella would like to see his toys since she was friends with Snow White. Soon after, Cinderella came and sat on the floor with him to play with his toys. His fear or shock or whatever it was that he had was gone as he named all the dwarfs and explained their names to Cinderella. The PhotoPass people and his family were going crazy taking pictures. It was one of the sweetest things ever. And at the very end little Prince ran up to Cinderella and gave her a hug. Days like this make me love my job.
He basically looked just like this. (But with flip flops)
On to today! Today I had to stock. Which means I run all around the kitchen making noodles for the chicken noodle soup, heating up bread and moving it from one oven to another, taking things from the dishwashers to the servers, making butter balls and ketchup trays, filling giant red trashcans with ice, etc. etc. etc. I honestly feel like I'm working like Cinderella. It's by far the hardest job I've ever had to do, and the hardest job in the Castle. Today was my first time to stock alone, meaning that the only other time I had to do it I was with a trainer and 2 other trainees for the entire shift. Basically I was terrified. I'd been dreading today for a week. It turned out not to be that bad though. So many people helped me. I probably would've cried if they didn't.
We get a lot of marriage proposals at the restaurant. (Duh.) And part of the proposal package includes a special slipper dessert. It's so pretty and looks amazing. It's a chocolate slipper with icing inside on top of an angel food cake with raspberry sauce and berries. One of the chefs was bringing out the pretty dessert and I said something like, "Oh that's so pretty" or "That looks delicious!" A while later one of the servers said something to me about working hard like Cinderella and I said, "Does that mean that my Prince Charming is just right around the corner?" Well, he wasn't. But! The very chef who brought out the slipper I so admired earlier called my name from across the kitchen and pointed to a slipper dessert. And he said it was for me! Now maybe in other restaurants this would be a normal occurrence, but not in this one. The most we get usually is left over soup and bread. I seriously asked him three times if the dessert was really for me. He said yes, and that I should go downstairs and eat it! The other seaters were sooooooooo jealous. From what I could gather, none of them have ever gotten one before, and a bunch have worked there for years. I felt so special. And it honestly made the rest of my night go by so much faster.
And while a white chocolate slipper is no Prince Charming, I'll still take it!

Exciting development!

After a ton of drama and thinking about going home, I've found out my new work location! And judging by the ! I just used, you should know how excited I am about it, which means I will stay in Florida till May 14.

I'll be a hostess at Cinderella's Royal Table! Which was my first choice! I can't wait to be in a new location and learn something other than Merchandise. I hope the hours are good there!

I'm really sad that I can't come home for Christmas and that I can't go to New York for New Year's. I miss my family. And skyping on Christmas just won't be the same. I wish I could go see you all so badly. However, I do plan to be in Oklahoma in February to see Elton John and Billy Joel!!!

Last week was a really fun week!

We gazed upon Prince Charming in the Spectromagic parade at Magic Kingdom. Thanks, Melissa for the video! However, I don't think Cinderella appreciates him blowing kisses to random girls in the crowd. But he did look mighty familiar...

We had College Program Graduation!

We went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party...

We visited the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in Hollywood Studios...

And got to ride Rockin' Rollercoaster with the lights on! Thanks, Dan!

It's also been a sad week as well. One of my friends moved back to Ireland, and another was terminated. I'm so excited that I only have to work at the Contemporary eight more times (!!!!), but I can't believe that my new friends are all leaving in 10 days. Time just flew right past me and now we're trying to cram SO MUCH FUN into these last few days.

Baby it's cold outside

Well, actually it's not. It's hot. And it's December. And it's weird.

If this doesn't put you in the Christmas spirit then I think you may have a black heart. You better watch the whole thing. And use your audio. I used my mad videographer skills to capture it just for you.

I just bought The Jackson 5 Christmas CD! It's so good. I can't believe that I didn't have it and or even know it existed till this week when I searched for it on iTunes...because I needed MJ Christmas music and I knew there had to be some out there somewhere... You would do the same...right?...

Insert Title.

I've decided to extend my program at Disney World! So that mean's I'll be in Orlando till May 14. I'm both excited and nervous about it. I'll be working in a new role, full service food and beverage, which is basically being a hostess. That means no more Contemporary Resort and no more merchandise!!!! I requested to work at Cinderella's Royal Table in Cinderella Castle, so keep your fingers crossed for that location! If not I hope I at least get to work in a park. What this means for all of you is that you now have an extra 5 months to come see me here! Yay! And yes, we can go to Harry Potter World. I'm really sad that half of my roommates and most of my friends are going home January 2nd. I hope that I have just as much fun on my second program. That's what I'm mostly nervous about I guess.

My family came to visit me again for my 22nd birthday (old.) and Thanksgiving. We had a lot of fun, of course, and now I'm sad they're gone. Even though they exhausted me.

My roommates plus Travis and Dan had Thanksgiving this weekend and that was lovely!

I feel like I just wrote the worst blog ever. Hahahaha but I don't know how to fix it and I'm too lazy to! Sorry if it bored you!

Princess Tiana

Today I met the new Disney princess, Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog! She is so beautiful and lovely. She has a new Jubilee every day in Magic Kingdom in Liberty Square on the riverboat and today we decided to go see it! And now I want to go see it every day. Maybe I will! Because in theory I could go to Magic Kingdom every single day if I wanted to. For free!
After her mini-parade/show we met her and took some pictures, not in front of the castle, Kirsten! Just in a quite lovely and practically perfect gazebo. And her prince is soo cute. I might've stared. But just a little.

Yes we're wearing Christmas hats that we purchased that day. It's already Christmas here. We're embracing it.

I'm so excited for this new movie for so many reasons. First of all, I just love Disney movies so much and I'm glad that they've returned to the old Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast format and characters. During the Jubilee they sing a bunch of the songs from the movie and they were fantastic! We were dancing in the street to those beats! Second, I love that I'm here at Disney World for her debut. Seriously, almost everyone here is as excited as I am about her and the movie! And lastly, I'm so happy that Tiana's African American. It puts the biggest smile on my face when I see a little girl wearing her princess dress. It's also by far the prettiest. I love that the company's becoming more diverse. It's so encouraging that all these barriers, even those as silly as a little Disney movie might be, are being broken down slowly across America. I love it. Love love LOVE it!

Hallowishes

I've been having a busy time here in the Happiest Place on Earth lately! My mom and Peter came to visit me last week and they brought me my car! Yay! No more A and B bus hell! And then Terry came to come see me on Thursday! It was really really good to see my family. We had so much fun! I went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party with my mom and Peter and then again with Terry the next week. All of you would love it! Even those of you who don't love Disney would enjoy it.

I was Boo from Monsters Inc., Donna went as a witch and Peter was Harry Potter! He crucioed Brad.
And everyone said something to him about being Harry. The best was the first little girl who saw him. She pointed and laughed. It was so funny. And awesome.

Terry and I went as Batman and Spidergirl. Meaning I wore a Spiderman costume with a blue skirt over it and a red ribbon in my hair. Tada! Spidergirl! But Princess Aurora called me Mrs. Spiderman? This time the little kids were pointing at me! Terry and I had so much fun! But we always have so much fun.

Look at these intense battle faces!

In case you can't tell, those are sweet Family Reunion buttons that we're wearing when we went to Magic Kingdom the next day!

Aren't all these pictures making you soooo jealous?! Don't you want to come visit me now?!

Pictures of the Day!

I know this is long overdue, and for that I'm so sorry! But here it is anyway!

September 25
Last Friday Emily and I went to MK to let some of her friends in and we decided to get cappuccino floats (best drink ever) and check a couple of rides off our lists while we were there. Our goal is to go on every single ride and go to all the shows at every park at least once while we're here. I met my fairy godmother.

September 26
Saturday off day! I woke up so late and just sat around watching football and skyping Kirsten and blogging. Then we went shopping, where I got some sweet shoes. Seriously, aren't they beautiful?! On the way home we got some frostys (yum). Then I made the cookies I had been meaning to make since the first week I got here. Ooops...

September 27
Every Sunday is House of Blues night. We don't go every Sunday though. CPs go to HOB Sundays because it's "Service Night" which means we don't have to pay a cover, which is usually something like $8. We get there this week and the bouncer outside tells us that service night is starting later because there's a heavy metal band playing a show inside and we have to wait for them to leave. We decide that's lame so we go to Bongo's which is next door. And then we ordered drinks that came in these sweet bongos!

September 28
I forgot to take a picture on Monday...oops! But we were at HOB till 2 a.m., so this will count as my picture of the day! This is Emily, Mauro, me, Sarah and Melissa on the dance floor. I like the first pic better! Hahaha

September 29
Emily and I have been craving Mexican food. Real Mexican food too, like Tarahamara's not El Chico. On Tuesday we found this place that's called Mexican Restaurant. My plate is the bottom right. It's quesadillas. But they were fried? Hahaha still good though.

September 30
Wednesday night Emily, Dan, Travis and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings, which is what we do most Wednesday nights since it's karaoke night. The four of us had so much fun! We deemed it our Pregame for the OU game on Saturday. And afterwards we went to Perkin's which is across the street and had some more adventures!

Here's Emily and I not being lame!

October 1
On Thursday I had to work. Aaannd I forgot to take a picture...sooo moving on!

October 2
Friday I had to take the 6:37 bus. Which I feel is much too early, of course. This is where I was sitting at around 7 a.m. waiting for the next bus I had to take.

October 3
Gameday! Even though we lost, I still had a great time on my mini-vacay with Travis, Emily and Dan. But this day deserves an entire blog post, so I'll just leave you with one picture of us at the gas station.

October 4
Sunday was cleaning for inspection. Lame. Which we passed and were given mediocre cookies. But I'll take mediocre cookies over a $25 fine EACH for not passing any day.

October 5
On Monday I had a day off again and I spent it at Hollywood Studios with Travis and Dan. Well with Dan till he had to work. It was a really fun day that included many adventures like Travis's car not starting and a movie night! It probably deserves its own post, but I might never get to it....

So remember this? Well at Hollywood Studios there's a thing that you answer questions to and stuff and it tells you which Disney character you are. I was actually really surprised to see this pop up!

October 6
You may remember me mentioning Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. Well, on Tuesday me and 4 of my new friends decided to hit it up! And I got the last strawberry shortcake in all of the world. Ok, so the last one in all the World Showcase in Epcot.

Captain Jack Sparrow

I thought I would write this blog today to celebrate my day off! That's right, OFF! I was supposed to work 12 days in a row. I had been trying to give away today's shift for like 2 weeks, and no one would take it! Which, I mean, why would they? We're all working 6 days a week. But yesterday a boy who's seasonal came up to me and said he would take my shift! You have NO idea how happy I was! It made my entire night.

Now, on to the meaning of my blog title today. On Thursday night my roommate Katie came home from work and threw the door open and says to me and Melissa, who were sitting on the couch, "I am soo glad that someone's awake!" I paused the TV and said, "spill." She says, "Johnny Depp hugged me today." We were like, what?! Johnny Depp?!?!?!? We're asking her how this happened. But first I go wake up the other roommates.

So Katie works at the Emporium, a gigantic store on Main Street, U.S.A in Magic Kingdom, and Thursday afternoon she had the job of greeter. She's standing kinda in the doorway with her Mickey glove on waving to guests as they pass her. She sees a man walking with a lady in an ECV. Katie does her job and says hello! And she hears the lady say to the man, "Why don't you just go ask her?" Katie walks to them and says, "Can I help you find something?" And the man, who Katie thinks looks a little like Johnny, says, "Love, I'm looking for this one shirt that looks like something and says Disney World." Now Katie knows that the Emporium doesn't carry that particular shirt but a store in Animal Kingdom does. She tells the Johnny lookalike that he should just go inside the store and Andrea can call Animal Kingdom to see if they have it. He leaves to go in the store and the ECV lady stays to talk to Katie. They chat about Katie's internship, about her plans to try and get a professional internship, where they're staying, all sorts of stuff. Johnny lookalike comes back out to Katie and gives her a hug and says that they found the shirt at Animal Kingdom. Katie, the lady who seems to be his mom and Johnny lookalike chat some more and they go on their way.

Later that day, someone from VIP guest relations comes in the store looking for Katie and Andrea. Katie starts freaking out that she did something wrong. The VIP lady comes up to her and says, "Johnny Depp wanted me to come and personally thank you for the excellent guest service you gave him today. He said it's the best guest service he has ever received at the Emporium and to tell your managers that you definitely should get that professional internship." Only then did Katie know that she had been speaking to JOHNNY DEPP for 45 minutes and that he HUGGED her. Of course her knees buckled and she started giggling all night. I am soo jealous!

During September and October on certain days Magic Kingdom has a halloween party called Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. The party has special fireworks and a special halloween parade. The parade has a Pirates of the Caribbean float and Jack Sparrow is on the top of it. Since Johnny was in the park there was mass speculation that it was because he was going to be Jack Sparrow in the halloween party the next night. And lo and behold, he was! Just for one of the parades though. And I didn't get to see him :(

I've decided to do Pictures of the Day and continue Kirsten's tradition. I feel like I have pictures to share about this place I am at that would help you all understand my life now! So I'll start with pictures later today and start posting them! This is a gift to all of you, especially Kirsten!

I love you all and miss you so much!

Day off and Sonic adventures

Last week Travis and I travelled to Sonic. Yes, the Sonic, America's Drive-In. And yes, I do mean travelled. This all started because I promised Travis I would buy him a drink for helping me set up furniture/set up things/driving me places. Since we're both not particularly familiar with this area we decided to rely on Travis's GPS to find us a Sonic. We arrive at what's supposed to be the first one on the list. There is not a Sonic in sight. We drive all around searching for it. We give up on Sonic 1 and start the search for Sonic 2. Sonic 2 is located past a toll road that costs $1.75 each way (ridiculous, I know). Travis pays the toll and we drive to Sonic 2. Surprise! It's not there either! Did I mention that Travis's air-conditioning is broken? And that we're in Central Florida in Summer? By now we're hot, thirsty and irritated. We turn to the not-so-trusty GPS to get a phone number for Sonic 3, because we're not going through this again. I call Sonic 3 and someone answers the phone! I ask, "What happened to the Sonic on Osceola Parkway?" He says, "Oh that burned down." It burned down?! Apparently Garmin needs to update their maps. By now it's been over an hour since we set out on what was supposed to be a 20 minute trip. We're determined to have Sonic. We will not surrender to the GPS. We vented about how if we were in Oklahoma we would have ran into 3 Sonics by now. The nice Sonic 3 phone man told me how to get to Sonic 3. "It's just right in front of Wal-Mart on 194. And score! Travis recognizes the area! We turn around, pay another $1.75 and pray that we find it. We're driving for a while, still with no air-conditioning, and after turning around more than a few times (we didn't trust the GPS any more, you see) we see a Home Depot. We see a Wal-Mart. WE SEE A SONIC! Victory! (We literally cheered). I ordered a lime vanilla coke and the Sonic 3 lady said, "Eww gross!"

We arrived back at my apartment 3 hours after we set out on this 20 minute trip. Let me repeat that for you. THREE HOURS LATER. It was quite a memorable adventure though. And at least I had good company!

Today was my first day off since last Thursday which, for those keeping score, means that I've been working 6 day weeks. Of course, that sucks. No one I know here was off today so I had no idea what I was going to do with myself all day. I decided that I'd go to Downtown Disney and do some shopping since I was in need of a coffee mug and a water glass. You know how some days you crave that alone time? This was not one of those days. I did enjoy shopping, but I really wished that I was with someone else. Someone that I could turn to and say, "Oh, isn't that cute?" or, "Why would anyone ever buy this?" Instead I had to have those conversations with myself...

While I was so sad today that I was alone, today's cloud did have quite a wonderful silver lining! I got to talk to so many people who I love! I skyped with my mom, Brad, Kirsten and Tracy, I talked to Terry, Peter, my Grandma and Alex and I chatted with Megan and Laura! I think I really needed those many interactions to get through the rest of my lonely day.

Pictures like this make me happy. And laugh. Even on a sad day.

You all know why I'd write this quote today...hahahahahahaha

Can I see your pins?

That is the question I hear more than any other question in the world. And sometimes it annoys me soooo much. Like yesterday, a girl made basically a mad dash for me to ask this question. And not a small little girl. A girl who might have been in her 20s. Then she said "I want that Jasmine one." She didn't even ask! Then she called her boyfriend over so he could give me one of her unwanted pins. I wasn't even in the store when this happened. I was pushing a giant cart of mugs back to the supply area. It took all my energy not to be mean to her.

Pin trading is a huge thing at Disney World. I can't say that I particularly understand it though. I don't understand why people spend so much money on these pins. And why they're so fanatical about it. It's not like it's something that just the little kids do either. It's a huge thing. There are a ton of older people who are really into it too. I also don't understand what these people do with their pins when they go home. Do they put them on display? Do they look at them everyday? Do they trade with their friends?

Now some of these pin traders are lovely people. Especially the tiny little kids who get so excited when they find the pin they've been looking for and they ask me which pin I want to trade them. We have to trade and they can give us whatever they want in exchange for our pin they chose. So it's especially sweet when the little kids ask us to pick what we want or offer two of theirs for the one of ours that they wanted so badly.

It's also weird that when most of these people talk to you they don't look at your face. They stare at your chest. Where the pins are on the lanyard. People interrupt you when you're with other guests or ringing someone out to say, of course, "Can I see your pins?" The other day I was ringing a lady out and a completely unrelated man was leaning over the register to look at my pins while I was with the other lady. When people do that I just ignore them until they ask to see my pins. His face was literally inches from mine as he peered over the register.

People go on pin trading cruises, they buy pins on eBay, they pay ridiculous amounts of money for pins, they have over 1,ooo pins, the list goes on. Basically, they're crazy.

I watched the video 2.5 times yesterday. 1.5 times by myself and once with Travis. It made me miss days like this.

Florida! aka Longest Post Ever.

This post is at least a week later than I planned on making it. For the sole reason that I didn't have internet for the past week. I felt completely cut off from the outside world. It was soo frustrating since I've been paying for internet when I didn't have it. But it's finally working (after calling IT more times than I ever want to and getting a new modem) and my new roommate figured out how to set up the wireless which I definitely couldn't figure out.

I have so much to tell you that I don't even know where to start! The beginning would be the best place I guess. I wrote a bunch of this out already in a word document but now it seems so outdated in a way so I'll start from scratch. I'm living in Vista Way, which is the complex I wanted the least. We were supposed to have a choice about the complex and apartment size but when it was my turn the lady said, "Ok, Vista 3 bedroom." I was like, what? I can't even give a preference?! And she said that almost every single person who checked in on the 10th had to be in a Vista 3 bedroom because that's where the beds were. Ugh. I was mostly irritated because I took the earliest possible arrival date so that I could basically take my pick of where to stay. Why didn't I want Vista you ask? Because it's over 20 years old whereas the other 2 complexes are like 2 or 3. Our rent is a little less, but I had to buy a giant long cable to reach into my bedroom since Vista only has one cable outlet for the entire apartment. It's like comparable to Crimson Park to the dorms. Literally. This is a video that explains the reputation of this complex. Hahahahahahahahaha

However! It has worked out well. I really like my 5 roommates. And I think I got lucky cause I have met so many weird people and already heard some roommate horror stories. Plus almost everyone I've met is in Vista.

I'll be working in the Contemporary Resort in the stores inside.

It's the resort that the monorail actually goes through. And it's the resort that owns the suite in Cinderella Castle. My initial reaction was intense disappointment. I really wanted to work in a park. I kept picturing a typical hotel gift shop and I was so sad that other cast members were getting to sell princess dresses and pins when I was selling medicine and gift cards. But I should've know that it's Disney, not some random hotel! The Contemporary opened simultaneously with Disney World, so it's been there a long time. The gift shop is actually 3 different stores and they take up about half of the 4th floor, they are the Fantasia Market (like a convenience store that sells liquor, wine, fancy things and regular convenience stuff), Fantasia (which is kinda like a toy store, but it also has lots of pins, collectables and the cutest kitchen stuff ever) and Bay View Gifts (the home of clothing, princess dresses, candy, fudge (that I had to learn to cut a certain way), jewelry, golf stuff and lots of other things). So basically I ended up getting a pretty good location. The stores are open from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. I know that's a long time, but sometimes the Magic Kingdom is open till like 2 a.m. Gross. My costume is probably one of the better ones. BY FAR. It's just a powder blue blouse and chocolate brown pinstripe pants. Also, I like the people who work at my location. There were only 3 of us on the College program who came in to work at the resort on our date, but I think they said there are 7 total. A lot of the people who work in the resort have been there forever. One lady has worked at the Contemporary since Disney World, excuse me, The Walt Disney World Resort, opened in 1971. Other people have worked there for 22 years, 30 years or 20 years. That's so long!

Our schedules suck. It's been hard to figure out times to hang out because half of us will be working till Midnight or later and the other half will have to be at work at 7 a.m. I hope we can find a time to do something other than work soon!

Ok, so now that I've caught you up on my Disney life, I should tell you about my cell phone. Uggggghh. Yesterday when I was on my break I took my phone out of my pocket and it appeared to be off. I thought, "Oh, that's weird, maybe I accidentally shut it off." No. I didn't. I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. So I took the battery out and put it back in, the supposed cure all for Blackberrys. Did that work? No. It turned on and pretended to be normal but I could do anything! The roller ball worked but I couldn't click on anything. None of the buttons worked either. Now I'm mad. And extremely frustrated. I have numbers for people I know in Florida, but of course, I don't have them memorized. My roommate Emily was going to pick me up yesterday so I wouldn't have to take the bus all the way home and now I had no way to let her know when I was done or to find out where to meet her. Skip to the end of my shift. I'm on the bus that's taking me to the place where Emily was to pick me up. And suddenly my phone lights up and I can see her phone number! I turn to the person next to me, a rando that I hadn't said a word to) and asked to use his phone. I called Emily and she told me where she was and all was well with that. Because Emily is lovely, she took me to the Sprint store to try and figure out what the hell was going on. They said that one of my keys was broken, which makes it so that none of the keys work. Lame, right? My phone has insurance so I asked how much it would be to fix. They said $119! Are you kidding?! Apparently since my screen was cracked (remember that?) then Sprint becomes liable for it when they take it to fix. So even though it would be free to fix the keys, which was the problem, I'd have to pay to fix the screen too! Now my contract at Sprint ends in a month. I refused to pay $119 when in a month I'd pay $199 for a new phone. So I got a new phone instead of fixing my old one since they let me upgrade early. I've never been less excited to get a new phone. I had to decide right then and there which phone I wanted. I was not happy about having to make this decision so quickly. I decided on the Blackberry Tour. And so far I like it.

Oh, one more frustration. My old phone wouldn't cooperate with the phone number transfer at the store. The Sprint guy said that I should try and back up my old phone on my computer and then restore my new phone. Too bad that I have a Mac and the software isn't compatible. But Emily saved the day again! She has a Blackberry and a PC so we backed up my phone and restored it on her computer. It was a long day to say the least. I'm glad it's over.

By the way, the humidity is having a complete field day with my hair.
I miss being in Norman. I keep forgetting that I won't be seeing anyone for a long time. :(
Oh, I almost forgot! I've found like 3 college football fans here. It's like NY, Laura! Also there aren't too many people here from big schools that you would recognize. I've met 2 people from the Big 12. It's so weird because I thought there'd be more of us. At least more Division I schools. But nope!

Thanks, mom

Conversation I had with my mom recently:

Me: I'm going to go to The Food and Wine Festival in Epcot when I get to Disney!

Mom: Oh, that sounds fun. Are you going by yourself?

Me: No, I'm going with my friends.

Mom: I didn't know your friends were coming to visit you.

Me: Well I wasn't talking about those friends. I meant my new friends.

Mom: Are you talking about people you haven't met yet and you're calling them your friends?

Me: Yes...
Mom: Hahahahahahaha

Thanks, mom.
